Heater Selection
and
Rebate Procedures
Water heater selection must meet minimum ASHRAE Standard #90, with
tank insulation of R-16, R-20, or greater and dual heating elements.
Water heater must be 40 gallons minimum capacity. Typical home
recommended capacity is 50 gallons or more.
Purchase and installation cost must be verifiable with the original
paid receipt.
The City of Duncan Code Enforcement Department must be called by the
installing party or contractor to inspect and approve the completed installation. The
rebate payment will not be made unless the inspection approval has been given.
The DUNCAN POWER Energy Conservation Analyst must be called to
perform on-site verification of the water heater manufacturer, model number and receipts.
After verification that the water heater complies
all the specifications required, rebate will be made directly to the
DUNCAN POWER customer at the following levels:
- $100.00 for R16 or $150.00 for R20 insulated unit toward the purchase and installation of an electric water heater with 40-49 gallon capacity. An additional $40.00 rebate if changed from a gas to electric unit. The maximum payment to be $190.00.
- $175.00 for R16 or $250.00 for R20 insulated unit toward the purchase and installation of an electric water heater with 50 gallon or more capacity. An additional $50.00 rebate if changed from a gas to electric unit. The maximum payment to be
$300.00.
- A $50.00 incentive will be paid to the home builder or subdivision contractor for the first unit installed in new home or new commercial construction. An incentive of $15.00 will be paid for each additional qualifying unit installed on the same site.
- The maximum payment for any one unit will be $300.00.
